Covenant With Bani-Israel
Surah Baqarah verse 83 mentions about the covenant Allah took with Bani Israel and that they failed to fulfill this covenant. My question is that which part of this covenant they failed? The verse mentions about “Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah.” If I am not wrong all jews (even to date) are monotheist so they all believe in one Allah then why the verse suggests in some way they did not worship Allah?

In this very Surah, all their violation are mentioned. This is about the past and present Jews at the time of the revelation of the Quran. The modern Jews are a separate case.
