Please give the interpretation of surah Imran ayat 36

“ And men Are not like women “

Is it true that women and men are not equal in islam ? I have heard many scholars and islamic web pages saying that men and women to not have same duties and are not biologically same so islam do not deal with equality but deal with equity and justice ? So its true ??

Yes it is true. Both are different so both have different responsibilities according to their physiology. Thi is justice. Men are the protector and caretaker of women and women are supposed to comply with them. Men have the authority to pronounce divorce while Women have right to ask for Khula.

Women are exempted from saying prayers while in the state of their impurity while men are not exempted.

And what about interpretation of the ayah

And those different responsibilities makes men superior??

It is administrative superiority like that of a company head or a chairman, not superior in terms of status in Deen or Sawab with God.

The verse is about Maryam. Her mother said if she had given birth to the boy he would not be like her. This is in the context that she wished to dedicate her child in the service of God and for that purpose only male child was accepted. But Maryam due to her merits was also accepted for that purpose.
