  • Kafir And Munafiq As Mentioned In Quran And Application On Today's Muslims

The Quran is full of reference to Kafirs and Munafiqeen of that time.my question is what does the term kafir actually mean intodays context. A muslim doesnt comply with so many injunction of God so can he be twrmed as Kafir or this term is only used for describing ones who dont believe in God and His messenger??

Same ia the case with term Munafiq. While many muslims offer prayer(they become part of muslims) while after namaz they dont adhere to several injunctions of God.So in that sense would these be called as munafiqeen as they a little earlier they came to remder their allegiance to God but now are not adhering to Bis instructions.

    Need detailed guidance please.

We do not have the authority to call a person claiming to be a Muslim as Kafir. Term “Kafir” applies to a person who deliberately rejects the message of God. A muslim may not be intentionally following directives of religion which may also tantamount to Kufr as in actual rejection of God but he does not claim this to be the case and we do not know whether he is doing this intentionally or because of any other reason deep down, only God has the authority to know the affairs of the heart. Although hypothetical but if a person claiming to be a Muslim openly rejects the directives of God and admits this fact, then we can apply the term Kafir on that person. Same goes for a “Munafiq“, this also has to do with internal affairs of the heart which can only be known through divine revelation and we have no source to know this fact whether a person claiming to be a Muslim does not believe this deep down. We can only pinpoint the mistakes committed by Muslims and try to convey them the true understanding of religion but we cannot call a person claiming to be a Muslim as either Kafir or a Munafiq.
