    Assalam Alaikum,

    1) Why is the word “most” used when there is no comparison? meaning, God is most/more Merciful than who? there is no other god to compare with, and comparing with His creations doesn’t make sense. Is this an accurate translation?

    2) How is it possible that the Most Merciful God throws (some of) His creation into Hell eternally for not believing while He was unseen to them? especially when He was seen to Iblees, then His creation (Iblees) had the audacity to disobey Him in front of Him. My question is: (a) Isn’t this an unfair expectation from humans who use their given intellect to reach a wrong conclusion? when a similar creation knew exactly who God was couldn’t bother to be obedient in front of Him? and (b) Doesn’t this punishment defy (tend to negate) His Most Merciful attribute?

Sorry about such questions, I have no where else to ask these questions or expect to get a genuine/reasonable answer than this platform.

    jazakAllah khair!

A superlative degree is used to tell the highest possible degree one may imagine. It is not necessary to have one similar in comparison. Here the comparison is with his creations who have very lesser degrees of his attributes.

Humans do not believe in the seen only. Experience and observations lead us to believe in unseen objects and theories that come true later. Viruses and atoms are not seen yet but they are believed to be existing for their attributes. The magnetic field cannot be seen but believed for its existence.

God is believed for His signs and the believability of his religion which is a separate topic. Seeing is not essential.

God will throw into hell only those who have no genuine excuse for their denial of the truth. Humans can deny a reality as iblees did. This is arrogance and this kind of arrogance deserves eternal hell.

God’s mercy does not violate the rule of justice. His mercy is not like that of Mother as mistakenly assumed but of a king who bestows and punishes according to his rules. He bestows more than one deserves but punishes to the extent that man deserves.
