Aoa, it is commonly seen in our culture that the girl is told that after marriage she goes into the boys family but the boy doesn’t become a part of her existing family. She is supposed to treat in laws like parents while son in law doesn’t need to have a relationship with his inlaws. How much truth is there? Does the girl’s family have no rights on her after marriage? Can she not see them as she pleases, does she have to blindly follow husband in all orders?

    This is cultural, not religious.

Islam has advised its followers to treat people with justice and kindness, they are forbidden to usurp their rights. A healthy relation is the one where both husband and wife take care of each other’s needs both physical and emotional.
