Yes, true creation belongs to Allah only. It includes everything like creation of humans, angels, other creatures, this world, the universe, the matter, the energy everything.

could it just mean matter, scientists might using matter create microorganisms etc..

God is the true creator who created all this by Himself alone. What scientists may or may not create does not count as original creation from nothing because they already have the raw materials to begin with.
