Allah has taken the responsibility of protecting the integrity of the Quran’s content. However there is no such declared protection of Hadith. Although the Islamic scholars have worked hard to ensure the integrity of Hadith by tracking down the lineage of Hadith being conveyed from person to person. However such measures can’t ensure the level of protection of integrity as ensured for Quran. In such conditions, why Deen is being defined based on contents of Quran and Hadith. Why not just Quran?

You are right. Ahadith are not preserved the way Qur’an is preserved therefore it is incorrect to say that Islam is comprised of the Qur’an and Hadith.

We maintain that Islam is in the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Sunnah we received from ijma and tawstur, consensus and collective tradition, prayer, zakat, hajj, and the things pertaining to them.

Hadith is arbitrary reporting of individual which needs to be confirmed with the established religion for their acceptance.

For details you can read discussions on the Qur’an, Sunnah and Hadith from the book, Meezan, by Ghamidi saheb or his lectures in these topics on our YouTube channel.
