There is a hadith of Prophet p.b.u.h in which he have asked hazrat Umar that if he ever met owais karni then he should ask him that Owais karni should ask God for Umar forgiveness, but Ghamidi sahab lectures are always cleared that one should directly ask God. Which is one of the reason that I dont consider Sufism to be part of Islam so if anyone could shed light on this.

    The hadith is given below.

    Umar ibn al-Khattab narrated,

“I heard Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, saying: ‘There would come to you Owais bin Aamir, of Qarn, a branch of the Murad tribe, along with the reinforcement of the people of Yemen. He had been suffering from leprosy which would have been cured but for the space of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been very kind. If he would take an oath in the name of Allah (for something), He would honor it. Ask him to beg forgiveness for you (from Allah) in case it is possible for you.”

    This is not authentic.

However asking others to pray for you is a good thing. It is as if one is requesting from God favour for you. Parents do the same.

Asking directly to God means that one should not beg to someone considering that God won’t listen to him but to someone else. And that he is an intermediary between you and God.
