    Aslaaam I alikum

I am a Muslim woman age 45 and I have a deep affection and love with a man who is a deep hearted Christian (deliver messages in church) very obedient follower of Jesus Christ. We want to get married he won’t revert to Islam nor I will go into Christianity. What are prospects like? I am very disheartened and it is very difficult for me to stay away from him. On the other hand, he is waiting for me that I will have the truth of faith one day. I am anxious for my feelings for him. Please guide me

Islam doesn’t allow Muslims women to marry the non Muslims the people of book. If you come to know that he is a drug dealer or involve in human trafficking would you still like to marry him? Shirk or polytheism is more repulsive.

This is a matter of faith, not just a cultural problem. If you value your faith you cannot choose a polytheist and if his polytheism doesn’t bother you, you can do whatever you like.

The Muslim men are allowed to marry the women of the people of book because women usually live under the provisions of their husbands. They are influenced by them. And it was allowed only when the Muslims were culturally superior back then. It minimizes the prospects of their being influenced by their wives in the matter of faith. In the present cultural situation it is not recommended for Muslims men to marry Christians or Jewish women, let alone the Muslims women to marry non Muslims.
