    Dear,

As of now in the Response to 23 Questions series a few ahadith which were considered to abrogate verses from the Quran have been discussed.

I had one specific question about al-maida 5:33-34 where it has been stated that those guilty of hiraba can be killed in a gruesome way.

However, from the hadith corpus we know that the Prophet ﷺ has limited this by saying that only Allah can punish with fire and not human beings. So does this hadith not limit the scope of the Quran? Thank you in advance.

As told in the same series that in the application of a directive we have to specify. Not only prophet but whoever will do that, will have to specify. In such specifications one may prescribe a way that must not be adopted. The prophet indicated one. We may suggest more like that.

Every directive in its applications needs specifications. For example, we are asked to sacrifice an animal in the way for God. We have to select an animal. We decide it should be a good one as it is an offering to God Almighty. Now comes the specifications that how good it should be and what is not good that should be avoided.

God has told us not to be extravagant. Now we have to decide what amount according to our standards is spendthrift and what is not.

Now we are specifying a directive. This is an integral part of a directive when comes to application.

When the prophet suggests it, it is still the same. But since it is suggested by the prophet it has its own value.
