  • Content Of Songs/Music When Listening Vs When Creating

I have a confusion about the content of music/songs.
If by listening to music, no matter what content it contains, there is no effect on the nafs/heart, it is permissible to listen to it, right?

But when creating the music, one is not allowed to put in any content that goes into the 5 categories of haram things that God mentioned in the Quran. For example, creating a song to disrespect a certain individual.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

One should avoid listening, creating or enjoying a theme which is haram.

You may appreciate artistic beauty of a haram thing like beautiful construct of an idol or building of a temple or use of the word in poetry occasionally. But intentional listening or creating is not allowed of a haram thing.

Almost every song has some inappropriate words, if one’s intentions aren’t to listen to something bad but the intention is just to enjoy a song without worrying about lyrics and the song doesn’t have any bad effect on the heart, then?

Not almost every song has inappropriate poetry. The answer is already given. One may enjoy the artistic beauty.

The effect on heart has t be judged by the listener.
