It is not possible. Human are prone to differ. The companions too differ with each other. This is natural to any science. It is not bad. It helps people ponder and improve their understanding.

Kindly quote Hadith where the companions differed on the meaning of ayats

While explaining the Quranic verse, the companions used to present different opinions from each other. The famous Tafsir Tabri and Ibn Kathir collect all those opinions.

For example, see verse 24: 31. Abdull bin Masood understands that the word Illa ma Zahara means dress or veil, on the other hand, Abdullah bin Abbas, Hazat Ayesh, and Hazrat Umar understand that it means the beautification of face and hands.

The companions differ in understanding the verses of Inheritance 4: 11, 12, and 176. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas and Hazrat Umar had different opinions.

Is this Hadith before or after The Prophet PBUH – If it was in the time when The Prophet was alive wouldn’t the companions ask to clear any doubts

The problems of understanding never end. the companions used to ask if the had any confusion, but after him, they kept exercising their understanding and had different opinions. But mostly these are not contradicting but different.

Excuse me for questioning again – But wasn’t the Ayats you quoted in Hadith already understood in the time of The Prophet by the companions as they understood The Quran.

The verses are simply understandable, but complications arise when one is going to apply a directive. Unless a problem comes up, the simple understanding seems sufficient. This happens even today. We understand a verse well, but then after a while a new problem comes up and we have to reconsider our understanding. This is how the knowledge works.
