  • Deciding To Marrying Once, But The Woman Is Infertile

if a man and woman have strong desire to marry each other for long, but then one of them turns out to be sterile. does it mean it will be minor sin, makrooh to marry that spouse? and what if their rejection for marriage will hurt the other person very deeply?

if the man wants to marry that lady and also thinks that he won’t marry second wife because the would hurt sentiments of his first wife strongly. so he decides to marry only this one lady, but that lady is infertile.

according to hadith where prophet didn’t allow a man to marry an infertile woman, will it be minor sin/makrooh for that man to marry her?

Things are not just sin or not sin. It can be good or not good or preferred or not preferred. to be sin, a things needs to be qualified to immoral or unethical. The prophet’s advice was a suggestion, the same we do. no one would like at the first place to marry an infertile man or woman.

To have children is the primary goal of marriages. if man or woman prefers to have children they have right to end the marriage. in religon, it is allowed to break you oaths and then compensate for breaking it as God knew that man cannot know the upcoming circumstances. therefore marriage or promise to marry can be revoked with an apology. This is how life goes.

@Irfan76 if the man still wants to be with that same woman because of his attachment to her. knowing well that after marrying her, he won’t marry again as he doesn’t have enough energy to take responsibility of 2 wife and also that taking second wife will hurt the sentiment of his first wife.

As he loves this woman a lot so he decides to marry this infertile woman knowing well that after this marriage he won’t do a second one. because of not hurting her sentiment. so according to hadith, is there any problem in this man’s decision?

Also what is the context of this hadith?

Religiously I don’t see a problem marrying an infertile women, but what if once you age and passion and love subsides and overcome by practicality and you start wanting children, then what would you do?

A good and loving women would nderstand the legitimate needs of her husband and never stop but encourage her husband to go for second marriage instead of taking a divorce. Other solution could be to adopt orphan children and reap double the benefits of having a family and earning rewards from Allah.

It was a suggestion of the prophet not a religious obligation.
