Is making an audiobook of any book which’s pdf is available, or I have purchased permissible. Is not it equivalent to reading aloud the book you own or the pdf to another person (especially if not done without any intention of earning). Also, if not is making audiobook okay if the author does not object after making. In my country audiobook of local books are made without permission. And the authors or the publishers never complain. Is it equivalent to stealing. Specially if done with altruistic intentions in mind.

The rules and ethics of intellectual property has been delineated. An author or publisher has right to get compensation for their efforts and expenses. However if they have allowed to make copies of it either Pdf of audios, it is obviously allowed. Their silence can be considered as their approval unless it is not out of helplessness.

Here the one who makes the copy needs to assure that he is not violating author’s or publisher’s rights.

Is not there the possibility that the publishers or the author is unknown of this? Is the silence even in this case can be considered their approval

This is what the copier needs to decide. If investigation is necessary he should do it. If it is not possible then he has to take his decision with honesty.
