I think this provides principles on which we can decide that:

Yes i would like to know the answer of this question as well. This video states that test tube baby is no issue but what about whose parents who do this procedure to choose their gender of the baby…? thanks

Excellent question. I would like to know as well. Also if it’s forbidden then are there any special circumstances in which it may be allowed? For example, Gender selection is not allowed even in some States when couples are going through their first pregnancy as a voluntary thing. However, if it’s after a few children then it’s allowed. Or if they are going through IVF then they can choose.

So if one has 2-3 boys and wants a girl or vice versa, is it okay then considering that even Gender selection is not 100% results and Allah’s will is there just like any treatment.

Thank you for answering this question. The answer was in line with what I expected.

    1. Government view: Gender selection should not be a common practice in a society. No government should enact such a policy and then allow gender selection as well (example China). This will disrupt the nature’s balance / ratio of gender that Allah has sustained for so long
    2. If one chooses to opt for gender selection then keep certain things in mind: A. Keep a balance in gender selection. For example, if one has boys then go for girls as well and vice versa. B. Should not be a result of looking down upon any gender. Example, those who despise girls or feel so embarrassed to have girls that they need a boy to acknowledge girls as a blessing too.
