Punishment During Death

There is no such rule told in Deen. However, those on whom the Hujjah has been completed, they face Azab right from the moment of their death. See the following verse: 8: 50

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۙ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ

There is a certain type of pain or confinement that will be faced by everyone during process of death as described in some ahadith because of process of transitioning into the new world, but it should not be misunderstood with punishment. For punishmet after death or right at the time of death, the principle is different for instance, the addressees of itmam-e-hujjat.
