    Where does Ghamidi sahab get his information on Zakah % being different depending on the item/commodity being taxed?

    My understanding is that these ratios are coming from Sunnah. Rasool Allah SAW only described the ratios of those types of Zakatable items that were available in those times. That includes savings, cattle, and agricultural produce. Scholars later extended these ratios to newer types or forms of wealth using the principle of ILHAAQ.
