  • Hadith Strength Qualification When Two Hadith Scholars Differ In Its Grading

I want to ask that should we consider hadiths strength individually or should we take a collective bunch and grade them as they could support each other?

Example of this is Abu dawud 4104

In this one could grade the hadith daif as all supporting hadiths have problems like azmi sahab .

Meanwhile Albani view as a collective all of the collections support each other making it hasan.

This is my interpretation as a layman so if I make any mistake please correct. Both of the scholars views are my understanding

This discussion of Albani Sahab Vs. Azmi Sahab is mainly on the chain of narrators. After this, every Hadith is studied w.r.t its content. So mere grading on chain is not enough. It is after the content is sctritinized in the light of Quran and Sunnah is then a narration is either accepted or referred back to narrator. Such differences exist between different scholars when it comes to grading a particular chain, such differences are few but still they do exist. A particular narrator is considered Thiqqa by a few scholars of Rijal and ‘not Thiqqa’ by some other scholars of Rijal. Therefore, a hadith scholar has to make a preference in such scenarios and two hadith scholars may lean in different directions.
