Asalamualaikum, in case of males, can they pray namaz in the shorts? What is the general ruling for it, and what about females if they are not in gair mehram

Think in this way, will you go to your boss office in shorts to meet?.
There are some etiquette for offering praying. Though shorts which are covering minimum satr is ok attire for prayers. But prayers are evidence of your relationship with God who is the boss of all word here and hereafter
