  • Did Prophet SAW Write The Quran?

Posted by Hamza Ali on September 18, 2021 at 4:49 am

Salam. My question is, why it isn’t possible that Prophet wrote the Quran himself.

We all know before the Quran was presented to other humans, Prophet would often spend time in the Cave of Hira.

Scholars also don’t have an exact idea that What the prophet SAW used to do there. Why it isn’t possible?

    ———————————————————————————————————————————————————

QUESTION NO 2, In a very fascinating series of Ustadh Ghamidi, he explains that the Quran was presented by the prophet to mankind. And, there is no history of the Quran being prepared/brainstormed/written by the prophet.

He explains that this is the only case with the Quran that the book is free from the evolution of the writing process among all the books on the face of the earth. I found this SO fascinating. But, My question is how do we know that is the case? Can a layman be sure about this? or how can anyone be sure about this? All the historical records we have based on individual reports and established history are mostly from believers? how can we be sure that this history is unbiased?

    —————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Quran says at one point that if it had not been from GOD, it would had many contradictions within it. My question is if a book doesn’t have contradictions, is it from the divine? For instance, there’s a famous book called ‘Think and Grow Rich or ‘Al-Chemist’ or, people have not stated anywhere anytime that these have contradictions. So are they from God too?

Plus, if Quran is divine because it doesn’t have contradictions within, then other religious books that we claim are not entirely divine like Bhagavad Geeta or Bible, must have contradictions. So, does Ghamidi Sahab agrees that all the religious books other religions must have contradictions within?

    A Big Thank You!

Here’s my take on your question:

The motive behind a book will point to the author of the book. The sole purpose of monotheism and submission to the Will of God and excel in good is to guide people how to invest their resources on solving others problems with a hope for a return in the far future (even the next life) and persevere the hardship of the present and that’s without compulsion or compromising the freewill, without which human cannot deliver their mission on Earth as co-designers – the cause of their creation.

No human author of the book can benefit through such an ideology as he wont live long enough to benefit from the investment of that far future. Climate change is an example, people care more about their present than the future generations even in this 21st century when most of the pressing problems have been solved. Imagine you talk about investing in the future when your own survival is at stake in the old days.

In addition, Quran is far superior than world’s biggest philosophers in providing three fundamental moral values (1) freedom, (2) fairness and (3) excellence as the most powerful enablers to mankind that help them not only in surviving but also thriving by co-creating solutions bit by bit thru generations to the complex problems they are exposed to. Only the Creator can be interested in the long term survival of human species on Earth until they deliver the mission they are tasked to. Prophet Mohammad (SW) had no motive or personal interest or background to author a book like that.

If you ponder on the verses of Quran, you will find an irrefutable evidence of divine intervention in the book. However, at the same time it’s hard to defend a view that the whole Quran is the word of God. A possibility of human additions or errors here and there in the book cannot be completely ruled out (the main message is intact though). One should use his common sense to decide which of the verses are helpful in surviving and thriving through co-existence and co-creation and try to benefit from them.
