    Assalamualaikum

In Islam woman is not obliged to earn. But what are her obligation then, like then her duties will directly go to childcare and doing household things?

And if in some household woman do the old of man like earn bread etc is it ok Islamically and other thing like head of family will be woman then?

A wife is free to decide if she wants to work and even contribute to her family. Such decisions, however, should be made with mutual consent of the couple; Islam doesn’t place a responsibility upon the wife to earn a living. Similarly, if she decides to stay at home, her responsibilities can be decided according to the couple’s situation as well as the norms of the society; Islam doesn’t place any specific responsibilities upon her in that regard either.

I had read that the verse about beating was revealed when a man struck his wife and she complained to prophet Muhammad SAW and he instructed her to beat him back but then the verse got revealed and the Prophet ruled that there is no retaliation between spouses. Is this narration authentic? If a wife strikes her husband then the marriage will break, and so is it possible vice versa then how is it a proper prescription for solving marital dispute?

Since this question was not related to punishing one’s wife, therefore, no detail has been added in this regard.

Please post it as a separate question if you want any clarification in this regard.

To my understanding, lightly beating is only allowed after all other recommendations fail and lightly beating is the last thing that might save a marriage. If lightly beating is not likely to help save the marriage, then instead of beating, divorce will be a better choice.

If a women is the sole bread earner then she has the right and if she is stronger than the husband, then she can beat husband lightly just to save marriage only after all other methods fail.
