The idea I got after listening to Ghamidi sahab about marriage is that if a man and woman declares that they’re a couple now, the marriage will be considered.

    The questions are :

    1) What if there’s really no ritual involved at all. Like they just announced to their relatives that they’re married now and started living together.

    2) What about other rituals from different religions, like ‘saat-phere’ or ‘Mangalsutra’ etc. Can they be considered as legal marriage ritual. Just like ‘Wali’ in islam there’s concept of ‘Kanya daan’ in hinduism.

    3) If a muslim and non muslim are marrying each other, can a muslim marry according to the rituals of non muslims? Of course if there’s no shirk involved in any ritual.

    4) ‘How many people are needed in our ‘announcement’ of marrige to be it a legal marrige. Like in court marrige it just considers 2 witness here in India. what is the minimum limit?

    This is important question 👇

    5) What if the couple decides that there will be no superiority of anyone in relationship and thus no financial responsibility of anyone on anyone either too?

    JazakAllah.

    1) As long as it is publicly disclosed that they’re starting their life as husband and wife, then marriage is legal.

    2) Yes, as long as point 1 is being observed.

    3) Yes, he/she can as per their rituals as long as there is no polytheism or other immoral activity. But marriage with Non-Muslims requires some explanation, please see:

    4) There is no minimum number fixed in Sharia. Such a minimum number has been fixed by jurists, which according to them fulfils the requirement of public disclosure at a minimum level.
