  • Was David/Hazrat Daud (a.s) Nabi Or A Rasul?

Posted by Fatimah on April 8, 2022 at 3:03 pm

We all know zuboor was given to Hazrat daud (a.s) and according to qanoon e itmam e hujjat, is he a rasool or Nabi?

I came to know that he was a Nabi not rasool from very renowned scholar couldn’t find much details about it. Need to know ghamidi sahab’s knowledge about this.

    Many thanks.

He was Nabi. There are only two Rasul in Bani Israel, Moses and Jesus. However, other prophets collectively were Rasul in the sense that they collectively completing the Hujjah on Bani Israel.

I don’t get it, on one you’re saying there were only 2 rasools and then there were other rasools because they did hujjah. Exactly Which criteria are we following to regard prophets as rasool?

There were three stages in Allah’s scheme of Prophethood:

      1) Separate Rasul in every nation.

      2) Whole Bani-Israel were given rank of ‘Shahdah‘ which sort of gave rank of rasalat to the whole nation where whole nation was required to do itmam-e-hujjat on the rest of the nations. And among them, two Rasuls were sent to do itmam-e-hujjat on them, when needed, once at the start with Moses (sws) and once at the end with Jesus (sws). In between there were many prophets (nabi).

      3) The rank of ‘Shahdah‘ was given to Bani-Ismael with last Rasul Prophet Muhammad (sws) Establishing Sahahdah on Bani-Ismael and Bani-Ismael establishing Shahdah on the rest of the world.

In Rasul’s life, all the stages of Itmam ul Hujjah complete, and result comes out, i.e. reward and punishment. on the other hand, Nabi, did a part of this mission and the result of reward and punishment does not accomplished at full scale. Nabi came only in Bani Israel as per our knowledge. They had only two Rasul Moses and Jesus in whose time all the stages of prophetic mission were accomplished.
