AOA, I saw a video lecture of Ghamidi sb in which he was asked how can one trust ahadith given the fact that they were compiled much later (200-300 years after Prophet). To this he replied that it is not correct to say that hadith surfaced 200 years afterwards, they were always in circulation since the very beginning, it was after 200 years that they took the shape of ilm/academic discipline. Can someone please locate that video? Also I want to ask about the established biographical history of Prophet(pbuh), does we get that though tawatur (if so, how?) or through historians like Ibn Ishaq (which makes it akhbar e ahad) @faisalharoon @UmerQureshi

Most of history, whether it relates someone’s biography or other historical events has two parts. The first one can be referred to as established history which gets transmitted from day 1 by such a large group of people that their conspiring or colluding on a lie is incomprehensible. The second one consists of accounts reported by individuals on their own accord.

As far as the history about Prophet Muhammad SAW is concerned, a lot of it is established e.g. he lived in the Arabian peninsula, he claimed prophethood, he gave us the Quran, his message initially met with a lot of resistance, etc. All these facts are established and there can’t be any other options about them. In addition, there are lots of individual reports about him that we call the hadith. These are, of course, not established, but many of them have been verified to the best effort of the muhaditheen and categorized into various categories e.g. sahih, hassan, etc.

According to Ask Ghamidi code of conduct only one question is allowed per post. Please open a new discussion for your other question.
