Why didn’t the successors of Holy Prophet SAWST including the close companions such as ‘Khulafa-e-Rashideen’ and the early Muslim scholars & jurists like Imam Abu Hanifah and Imam Malik [both of them were classmates and early scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence though] deem necessary to collect and compile a book of ‘Hadīth‎’?

Hadith consists of narrations reported by the companions of Prophet SAW. Imam Malik did compile a collection of such narrations known as Muwatta Imam Malik.

Muwatta Imam Malik is no doubt authentic book but it was finalised by his students Abdullah ibn Wahab, Abdur Rahman ibn Al-Qasim Al-Misri, and Asyhab ibn Abdul Aziz al-Qaisi even Imam Syafie’ also learned from him for 9 years.
